The word scuffing means scraping the surface of a printed substrate or paper material against another object. It is a major property which is used to measure the quality of the print. Presto Stantest offers Scuff Resistance Tester, which is used to measure the rubbing resistance of the labels and printed materials. The device is used mainly in paper and packaging industries to measure the color or print consistency of printed material during rubbing.

Presto Stantest manufactures Scuff Resistance Tester to measure the rubbing proof of prints on paper or laminations. It is also used to measure the transfer of color from printed surface at the time of rubbing or scuffing. The application of scuffing can be extended as per the requirement or quality of the material to measure the abrasion resistance of some plastic materials and aluminum foils.

The scuff of a material is defined as the process of rubbing the surface of a material with the surface of other material. Rub resistance is measured as the damage which took place through the rubbing of labels. Presto’s Scuff tester is used to rub the surface of two printed materials against each other with a certain speed, for a given period of time and on the same plane with a constant rubbing pressure. The paper and packaging manufacturing units, make use of rub resistance tester to measure the ratio of color transfer from coated or printed surface to another surface at the time of scuffing.

Presto’s Scuff Resistance Tester works continuously by rubbing the surface of two printed materials on the same plane by placing the printed side face to face. The scuffing of a material is done at a speed of 60 rpm under a constant amount of pressure.
