Testing Instruments By Standards
ASTM D2863 is a widely used industrial test standards that is used to determine the minimum amount of oxygen required to commence complete combustion of a plastic sample. The test procedure includes introducing a flowing mixture of oxygen and nitrogen to the test sample and then calculates the minimum amount of oxygen that was required to support flaming of the test sample. This standard is used by engineer while designing plastic products to decide the factor of safety for the product. The test specimens that are used for testing have a density of 15 kg/m2 and a dimension of 10.5 mm thickness.
