Beesley Balance
Model No:  PSB -167
Beesley balance is used for measure the direct yarn count. The balance is made of an aluminium beam which is pivoted at a bracket with the help of two jewel bearings. One end of the beam has a stainless steel hook for putting the yarn. The pointer side of the beam is provided with a slit for placing the weight. The beam assembly is fitted in a sheet metal box which has a sliding transparent window for avoiding the air flow in the instrument. A template is also provided with the instrument for cutting the different size of the fabric material. The instrument comes complete with two weights, an instruction manual and a calibration certificate traceable to NABL approved labs. The instrument is chrome plated & dark gray metallic paint for given the corrosion resistance finish.

Once the fabric is made and during the process of weaving/ bleaching/ dyeing etc. the yarn count decreases/ increases. Hence to determine count Beesley Balance helps to determine yarn count of fabrics. The count of yarn is defined as a number indicating its Weightage.
In accordance with the Direct System, the count is the weight per Unit Length of yarn. For example “Tex” is number of grams in one Kilometer Length of yarn; “Denier” is number of grams in 9000 meters of yarn (where one denier equals 1/9th of a tex).
In the Indirect System, the count is the number of unit of fixed length of yarn which make a fixed weight: For instance “Cotton” is number of hanks of yarn in a pound, “Metric” is number of Kilometers of yarn in one Kilogram. Irrespective of the system of count, there are two basic requirement for determining count:
  1. An accurate determination of Specimen Length, and
  2. An accurate determination of its Weight.
