How Does the Co-efficient of Friction Tester Work?

Most of the manufacturers working in the packaging industry make use of poly films that can cause static and kinetic friction. Thus, it is important for you to test the sliding friction of these films to reduce any slippage caused by them during transportation or shipping. Therefore, with the use of the Presto coefficient of friction tester, you can easily reduce your packaging problems that mainly occur during transportation and shipping. This instrument is easy to use and provides you with impeccable testing results that will drive your business towards growth.

The friction present in the packaging films will lead to accidents during loading or transportation and shipping. Thus, it is very important to test your material more efficiently to reduce any damage to the products. By testing the static and dynamic friction of packaging products, you will be able to take control of packages and reduce any further damages. Here in this article, we are going to provide you with essential information about the co-efficient of friction tester.

How co-efficient of friction tester evaluate the friction of plastic films?

The poly films are used for packaging purposes that are very slippery in nature. This property of plastic films will help to avoid any friction in the packaging products. Thus, to test the performance of two surfaces when sliding against each other you can easily make use of a coefficient of friction tester from Presto Testing Instruments. The dimensionless value of the coefficient of friction is the ratio of the force required to slide the surfaces to the force perpendicular to the surfaces. A lower friction coefficient indicates that the surfaces are slicker that means there is less resistance to the sliding motion. The coefficient of Friction values is related to the slip properties of films.

Thus, with the use of this lab testing instrument, you can easily evaluate the co-efficient of friction for plastic films. Whenever you conduct this test with the help of this lab testing instrument, then you need to remove it. This is because it may lead to faulty test results. Therefore, it is important for you to test the friction of the materials without any further destruction.

This amazing lab testing instrument can easily be used to test the COF in flex packs. We have listed the features and technical specifications of this lab testing instrument below.

Steps to commence the test with co-efficient of friction tester-digital model

From preparation of testing specimen to correct placement of it, you need to take care of everything while commencing the test with our lab testing equipment. These things need to be taken care of to get accurate testing results. Here we have listed the steps mentioned below.

  • First, you can start with the placement of the sample on the glass slab. Tighten the sample across the glass slab with the help of fly screws attached to the corner. Take the slide block to the extreme left using the toggle switch. Now attach the test block to the slide block with the help of a string in such a manner that the load cell must not touch the fly clamp.
  • Plugin the mains lead to an electrical socket of 3 pin-5 Amp configuration. Switch ON the Main Button from the Control Panel.
  • Switch ON the Indicator ON/OFF switch from the load indicator. After the above settings, set the speed of the test, using the speed regulator pointer at point 5 and then switch the toggle switch to the right direction to move the slide block to the right of the machine using the toggle switch
  • The load will start indicating values on the Digital Display as it experiences the weight. Note down the load readings from the Digital Screen to evaluate the Kinetic frictional force value.
  • When the machine reaches the extreme right, it will stop automatically. Press the Memory key once to get the Static frictional force value.

With these steps, you can easily commence the test with the help of this lab testing instrument. Give us a call at +91 9210903903 or email us at info@prestogroup.com. Our technical experts will guide you well regarding the use of this lab testing instrument.
