Evaluating Tensile Strength of material with Tensile Strength Tester

Everything that surrounds us in our environment is made up of matter. Type of Matter has different properties of elasticity, elongation, tensile strength, ductile, brittle, breaking strength and so on. Raw forms of any matter are processed and transformed into an usable form according to the best property they exhibit. For instance, Rubber is a material having the high elongation and tensile strength used in various fields for manufacturing hoses, water pipes, gloves and boots etc.

Other than rubber there are different materials with varied molecular composition material that can bear elongation and show tensile strength. Elastic limit of a material shows at which strength a material finally got deformed. To manufacture a final product out of it they need to be tested and examined. Many industries also test product with tensile testing for product uniformity and quality.

Tensile Testing Machine functions on the principle of CRT (constant rate of traverse). CRT follows a principle in which one end of the test specimen is held in a stationary grip and the other end is movable.

Presto Tensile testing instrument is equipped with an upper and a lower jaw. The upper jaw is stationary in presence of a load cell while the lower jaw is movable with electromechanical arrangement. A test sample is cut into a dog bone shape with the help of template and fixed between the gripping jaws. Movement of the lower jaw evaluates the strain on the sample. A sensor incorporated in the device digitally indicates the load on upper jaw. The lower jaw moves until the sample snaps.

Digital cum computerized model of the device shows results in form of graph. The force-elongation graph shows report more precisely. There is a sudden drop in strain after necking and immediately fracture of the sample. Hence, the device gives precise and accurate results point-to-point.

Tensile Strength Tester is having a corrosion resistant body with hard lead screws for avoiding friction. The minimum and maximum separation between the grips of the jaws can extend from 25 mm to 700 mm. The standard motor can provide a speed in between 100 mm/min to 200 mm/ min. The machinery complies of international standards as ASTM D412, ASTM D429-73, ASTM D624, ASTM D683-01, ASTM D76, IS 13360-5-7, IS 3400(part 1-1987). The device can test on with various material samples giving results instantly.
