Standard Test Method for Testing the Tensile Strength of Plastics

The standard test method ASTM D638 -01 explains the tensile properties of breakable and unbreakable plastics. The plastics are firstly cut in the standard form of dumbbell shape and then tested under defined conditions like humidity, temperature, testing machine speed, the thickness of the specimen, etc. The standard explains the size of the sample. The thickness of the test specimen can be 0.55 inches or 14mm.Therefore, the test specimens in the form of fragile sheets or plastic films with the thickness less than 0.04 inches or 1.0mm, ASTM D638-01 is the best standard test method.
