BS 6319-6
BS 6319-6:1984 is a British Standard that provides a standard testing procedure for the modulus of elasticity in compression of resin or polymer/cement compositions for use in buildings. It tests samples of resin-based mortar and concrete made into rectangular test prisms and gives a good indication of the stiffness of the material under compression. With complete adherence to the BS 6319-6 requirements, Presto Stantest provides precision testing instruments that allow laboratories and construction professionals to obtain accurate and repeatable results for structural assessment and material qualification.
Significance
Compressive elasticity is an important factor to consider in determining the performance of construction materials under actual loading conditions. The test consists of positioning two specimens between two platens, loading at a specific speed, and recording the stress–strain data up to the elastic limit, giving the value of the modulus required to design structures. Resin and polymer/cement compositions that adhere to the standards of BS 6319-6 will provide durability and performance meeting specifications, ensuring a safe and reliable construction. This is the sixth of a series of standards, BS 6319-6, which covers compression testing of prismatic test specimens of thermosetting polymers under specified conditions. The series is applicable to thermoset cold-curing resin formulations such as epoxide, polyester, acrylic, and polyurethane, which can contain liquid resins, hardeners, aggregates, fillers, and polymer-based grouts. Manufacturers, contractors, and quality assurance teams can easily comply with this standard with Presto Stantest's testing solutions.Scope
