BS EN 12467
BS EN 12467
The European standard BS EN 12467 provides details of the technical requirements and methods of inspection, testing, and conditions of acceptability for fiber-cement flat sheets, siding shingles, and planks. It specifies the requirements for fiber-cement flat sheet, siding shingle, and plank for interior and exterior wall and ceiling finishes (including amendments A1 and A2). Precision testing instruments are available for Presto from the BS EN 12467 requirements and are designed to help manufacturers and quality laboratories to complete a more detailed mechanical evaluation of fiber-cement building products.
Significance
Fiber-cement sheets are one of the materials used in modern construction projects, as the strength, weather resistance, and dimensional stability are attractive. Standardized testing is required to check their mechanical and physical properties and guarantee safe and long-lasting performance in challenging building conditions. The standard applies to other uses of the product, for example, in rigid underlays, where applicable, by following a different application standard. Similarly, the EU specifiers, contractors, and end users can confidently specify fiber-cement products that, with compliance to BS EN 12467, have demonstrated their ability to satisfy the structural and durability requirements for the products' entire life span. Sheets containing fibers of various types are covered by BS EN 12467, and this does not include sheets that are to be used for the purpose of fire protection. The standard does not include calculations with regard to works, design requirements, installation techniques, wind uplift, or rainproofing of installed sheets. It addresses dimensional tolerances; mechanical properties, including modulus of rupture; and durability characteristics under various conditioning regimes. Presto's testing solutions support the full test program required for product classification and market compliance under this standard.Scope
