ISO 7622-2
ISO 7622-2
It is used to measure the tensile strength of steel cords for conveyor belts. Significance and Use ISO 7622-2 is widely used for determining the tensile strength of steel cords used in steel cord conveyor belts under controlled tensile loading conditions. The standard helps conveyor belt manufacturers study the load-bearing capacity, structural strength, and mechanical performance of steel cord reinforcement used in mining, cement industries, steel industries, ports, power plants, and heavy-duty bulk material handling systems. Tensile strength testing is important for conveyor belt quality verification, production consistency studies, safety evaluation, and compliance checking of belt constructions. Poor tensile strength can result in belt rupture, operational failure, excessive stretching, and conveyor downtime during service. Presto Stantest offers advanced high-capacity tensile testing systems suitable for ISO 7622-2 testing with accurate force measurement, stable gripping arrangements, controlled loading speed, and software-based result analysis for laboratory and industrial quality testing applications.

Scope
This standard specifies a longitudinal traction test method for measuring the tensile strength of steel cords extracted from steel cord conveyor belts. The testing procedure applies only to conveyor belts with steel cord carcass construction. During testing, prepared specimens containing individual steel cords are mounted in a tensile testing machine and stretched under controlled conditions until breakage occurs. The maximum breaking force is recorded for tensile strength analysis and comparison with specified belt ratings. Multiple specimens are tested for quality verification and comparative performance evaluation. Notes ISO 7622-2 is commonly followed for evaluating the tensile strength performance of steel cord conveyor belts used in heavy industrial conveying applications. Presto Stantest provides advanced high-force tensile testing systems suitable for steel cord strength testing with rigid gripping fixtures, precise force control, controlled testing speed, and software-based reporting solutions for research and quality control laboratories.
