How to Calibrate Digital Torque Tester Effortlessly?

How to Calibrate Digital Torque Tester Effortlessly

Capping is an important parameter that will be used to ensure product quality, stability, and intactness. Thus, the tightness of bottle caps will play an essential role in keeping the products safe to use and consume. The digital torque tester from Presto Testing Instruments will play a crucial role in testing the force required to open the closed bottle cap of PET bottles. This lab testing equipment plays a vital role in studying the efficiency of bottle caps in the PET bottle industry. Here in this blog, we are going to provide you with effective information about digital torque testers and how you can easily calibrate this lab testing equipment.

What is Presto digital torque tester and how it is helpful in conducting the torque test for caps and closures?

Bottle caps and closures are considered to be the essential and most sensitive parts of the bottles that act as a barrier between the outside contamination and inside items. Thus it is important to test the bottle caps' quality before delivering products to your customers. The Presto digital torque tester will effectively test the force that will be required to open a PET bottle. You can easily solve the problem of torque in bottle caps that will directly affect the safety of products.

The torque of the products will easily be measured with the help of this lab testing equipment and is designed to evaluate the quality of the container closure system. This machine will precisely measure the amount of force required to open or close the bottle caps. This remarkable testing equipment comes with specimen settings with anti-slip holders that are designed to ensure zero slippage of the specimen.

If you wish to operate this lab testing equipment without any hassle, then you can do this by following the below-mentioned steps.

  • You can start the machine and the load indicator will show some readings due to previous test values.
  • Set the pressure to zero and press the TARE button and then the RESET button. Now the top load indicator will show some readings.
  • Place the sample accurately by adjusting the knobs in an anti-clockwise direction to take the jaws apart.
  • Adjust the specimen holding the pegs that are made in accordance with the size of the specimen.
  • Place the specimen properly in such a way that it will perfectly straight and touches four pegs at a given instance of time.
  • After placing the specimen accurately, tighten the jaw knob by revolving it in a clockwise direction.

In this way, you can easily conduct the test using this lab testing equipment. You can get detailed information about how you can operate a digital torque tester efficiently. This lab testing equipment has various applications in measuring the torque of medicinal bottles, PET bottles, etc.

To calibrate this lab testing equipment efficiently, you can read the below-mentioned steps.

Steps to calibrate Presto digital torque tester

Performing regular calibration of the torque tester will ensure that it will remain accurate and in adherence to international standards. It will also provide you the guarantee to operate the testing equipment at its peak performance and also highlight the potential tooling problems before they arise. Thus, we have come up with some easy-to-follow steps to calibrate the digital torque tester.

  • Place the calibration weight of 10 lbs. on the left end side of the clamping unit with the help of thread and pass it through the pulley on the back.
  • While placing the weights make sure that the pulley and the screw of the clamping unit are on the same axis and there is a zero-angle made between them on the entire axis.
  • Remove the safety lock pin from the clamping unit.
  • If the readings shown on the load indicator are beyond tolerances, like 9.5 to 10.5 then set them using the limit switch and get values under tolerance.
  • If these readings still are not under tolerance limits and fluctuating, then the readings need to be adjusted from the zero adjusting knobs given at the rear panel of the load indicator.
  • Adjust the readings by rotating the zero-adjustment knob and bringing the reading under the tolerance limit.
  • Repeat the same process as stated above for calibration with 20 lbs weight.

In this way, you can easily calibrate the digital torque tester. So, get ready to conduct hi-tech torque tests for caps and closures with the help of a digital torque tester.
